Mayor Yap Requests 2 New City Courts
Last May 2014, City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA”Yap wrote to Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno regarding the implementation of Republic Act 9309, an act which created the two (2) additional branches of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities in the City of Tagbilaran which was signed last August 4, 2004. Mayor Yapinformed the Chief Justice that the said law wasnotimplemented. Moreover, Mayor Yap assured the Chief Justice that the City Government has already reserved a parcel of land for the courts within the City Hall Complex.
Last July 23, Judge Leo Moses Lison, Presiding Judge and Vice-Executive in the Regional Trial Court Branch 3, was informed by the Judicial and Bar Council that the positions for Judge in the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Branches 2 and 3 are now opened and is now published in their official website, sc.judiciary.gov.ph.Judge Lison said that City Mayor John Geesnell “Baba” Yap has expressed his full support for the soon-to-be-opened MTCC in Tagbilaran City.With this positive development, Tagbilaranons can now be assured of a more swift and comprehensive trial of cases.
