Ex-Rep. Ronald Singson back in Ilocos Sur a free man

Former Ilocos Sur Representative Ronald Singson is a free man once again and back home in Vigan, where relatives and friends welcomed him. He had served 18 months of jail time in Hong Kong after pleading guilty to possession of illegal drugs.

His father, Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson, accompanied him on the direct flight home to Vigan on a private jet.

Ronald Singson was arrested by authorities at Chek Lap Kok International Airport in Hong Kong in July 2010. Found and seized from him were 26.1 grams of cocaine and two tablets of valium.

In May last year, the Commission on Elections held a special election for the post he vacated in the House of Representatives. His younger brother Ryan won that election and is now the Representative of the First District of Ilocos Sur.—GMA News
