LTO hotline nos. launched

Erring drivers of Public Utility Vehicles (PUB) should now be careful in dealing with the riding public as the local LTO here has introduced hotline numbers in order for the public to have easy access to air their complaints before the proper authority.

In an interview by the Chronicle this week, LTO Registrar Joel Maloloy-on, said that the hotline number is intended for easy and fast dissemination of complaints from the riding public against drivers of PUB.

PUV will now think twice before committing acts such as over-charge, over-loading, and over-speed.

Maloloy-on admitted that there had been reports received by his office that drivers of PUV, specifically the interior bound buses, were racing against each other to pick  up more passengers due to competition even as there are some roads in the area which have narrow and blind curves.

Since the bidding of the official cellphones and sim cards are still on  process at the regional office, Maloloy-on said that they temporarily spread personal cellphone numbers of their office employees.

The hotline numbers include 09083271588 which is the personal number of Maloloy-on, 09089181724, of Florencio Balasuela, the operations chief, and 09228432835 of Yvonne Campo-amon.

Maloloy-on added that through this program, complaints from the riding public are easily transported to his office wherein appropriate action will be rendered immediately. He further added that possible accidents might also be avoided as drivers will become more aware that passengers have already direct contact with the LTO.

Aside from usual complaints against erring PUB drivers, Maloloy-on said that concerned citizens can also report those vehicles that are running without plate numbers and those buses and jeepneys that emit dark combustion from the engine.

“We are sure that this program will help our riding public in relying their concerns as our LTO men, including its deputize agents, will bind forces in addressing different complaints in the roads”, Maloloy-on stressed out.

The LTO chief will also request their regional office for additional budget so that they can purchase stickers bearing their hotline numbers in order to be posted inside PUVs’.

“Once we get the approval, we will pilot our hotline numbers in the entire province through stickers”, Maloloy-on said.
