Ubay honors Sto. Niño on Friday

UBAY. All roads lead to this progressive town as it will celebrate Friday the Annual Fiesta in honor of her Patron, the Most Venerated Sr. Sto. Niño.

Mayor Eutiquio M. Bernales, Vice Mayor Constantino H. Reyes, members of the Sangguniang Bayan with homegrown second district representative Erico B. Aumentado are but ready to extend their warmth welcome to all guests, visitors, fiesta revelers from all walks of life including the balikbayans.

Mons. Christian Vincent F. Noel, D.D., Bishop of Talibon will be the Main Celebrant of the Pontifical Mass to start at 9 o’clock in the morning with more than 30 visiting priests are expected to join the liturgical rites according to Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Alfredo Amora.

The Holy Mass will be covered live via local AM radio DYZD.

Meanwhile, on its second year, the Novenario and Mass are held at 4:00 o’clock in the morning to enable businessmen, teacher, office workers among others to attend the same without sacrificing their hours of duty, Fr. Amora explained.

Adding color and more semblance of the festivities, cultural presentations and sports competitions would include the Variety Show by the Alturas Group of Companies on the First Night.

The Opne Basketball Tournament had a three successive nights of elimination games with four participating teams.  Vying for the championship plum on Feastday with a guaranteed cash prize of Php100,000 for the winner will the CPG Pure Mineral Water team owned by second district provincial board member Engr. Gerardo Cutamora Garcia against the Akira Sinandigan managed by Brgy. Capt. Carolina Bacatan.  Other teams competing are THEAM Cargo of Cebu and Casa Petra Bohol Selection of Ms. Ines Abayabay.  This tourney is being supported by Cong. Aumentado, Mayor Bernales, VM Reyes and the SB members with the Ubay Sports Commission.

Other sports competitions are the Administrator’s Cup – Table Tennis; Class B Open Lawn Tennis by the Sto. Nino Tennis Club and the Inter-Ubay Open Billiard Tournaments.

The Association of Barangay Captains headed by ABC Pres. Efren S. Tanjay sponsored a Live Band Disco Concert Sunday evening.

Two private institutions here shared the limelight with the Bohol Northern Star College/BNEF, in occasion also of its 5th Foundation Day had a Mr. and Ms. BNSC Personality 2012 Presentation while the Holy Child Academy had their Academy Days highlighted with the crowning of King and Queen 2012 with Mark Joseph Cu, a second year stude under Section St. Faustina as King while Miss Jenelyn Fernandez, a 3rd year from St. Martha Section was crowned Queen.

Tonight (Wednesday) the teachers from the three districts here will show their respective talents.  At 7 o’clock in the morning tomorrow, a Fluvial Parade with the image of the Holy Child Jesus will be held in the municipal sea waters.  This is being undertaken by the Parish Pastoral Council in cooperation with the local PNP, PPA Coastguard and religious organizations.

Ten bevies of young ladies will take centerstage to show-off their talents and beauties with the Search for Miss Ubay 2012 sponsored by the local Rotary Club headed by Rtn. Cristita Teloren.

The street dancing under the “Ubay-ubay Festival 2012 will be seen in the afternoon on Feastday with at least 10 groups are participating with the support from the LGU; Wemens Assn and the ABC: Then in the evening is the Balik-Ubay night by the EXECOM.

As an extended activities, the Ubay Motor Club will undertake the 6th Ubay Town Fiesta Motorist Competition to be held in brgy. Camabugan while the Ubay Local Entertainers Association will have their Search of the Battle as Champions and Got Talent on Sunday evening. (Wenny Reyes)
