Lifeless body drifted all the way from CDO

DUERO . A decomposing body–believed to have been drifted from Cagayan de Oro City, capital of Misamis Oriental–was found washed ashore in the beach of barangay Alejawan last Monday.

In the assessment of Dr. Victor Alan Torrefranca, municipal health officer of this town, the man must have been dead for about one to two weeks already considering that it was already in advanced decomposition when found.

Police estimated the age of the victim to be around 30-40 years old.

However, they could no longer identify the man’s face because the head was already totally decomposed with only the skull left.

Since the body already reek of foul odor, authorities decided to bury it right then in the town’s public cemetery.

It was already past 10 o’clock in the morning when the municipal police station received the report from residents in the coastal area, according to SPO1 Arturo Monsindo.

Exactly a month by Monday after Typhoon “Sendong” devap Evangelista in Cagayan de Oro–narrated how he stated northern Mindanao provinces and cities and authorities continued to search for bodies that could have been washed ashore in nearby towns.

Some of the typhoon victims and survivors were drifted even up to the island province of Camiguin , and were found by residents there.

Meanwhile, TSgt. Joselito Medina–an active AFP member assigned at Camand many others braved the rampaging flashfloods that swept his house and hundred others in sitio Tibasak, barangay Macas.

He described the rampaging current of murky water as “devil out to devour anything in its path”.

When he went home from a Christmas party at the military camp, he could no longer traverse the road on the way to his home because the flood already submerged the path. (RVO)
